Daily Jewish Meditation and Mussar
ENGLISH / Meditators make the world a better place
Description
DJM (Daily Jewish Meditation) is a Jewish Meditation program, based on a powerful indigenous Jewish Meditation technique: Hashkata. Hashkata (quieting) was taught by the Hassidic Piaseczno Rebbe, the last Rabbi of the Warsaw Ghetto. It is a three part meditation, comprising: 1. quieting the mind, simply by watching our thoughts. 2. a word repetition practice, to work on our character traits (tikkun midot). 3 a closing nigun, to seal/activate our intention. This deep spiritual discipline can help us reconnect to our spiritual nature and live in greater harmony with ourselves and others. In DJM, to deepen we explore each Sunday a work of Jewish Ethics (Mussar). PROGRAM DETAILS This year, our mussar work will be based on Tomer Devorah (the Palm Tree of Devorah), one of the most important works of Jewish Ethics, by the Ramak (Rabbi Moshe Cordovero), from 16th century Sfat. Drawing on the Sefirot to invite humans to live to the Divine Image, this work it is also an excellent introduction to Ethical Kabalah.
